Michigan Jail Credit Calculator
Stack every segment of pre-sentencing custody — initial arrest, bond violations, holds — and the calculator sums credit, applies optional good-time, and projects the post-credit release date. Both endpoints of each segment count as days served, per Michigan's standard inclusive convention under MCL 769.11b.

Calculated under MCL 769.11b. See People v. Whiteside, 437 Mich 188 (1991), and People v. Prieskorn, 424 Mich 327 (1985), for the controlling doctrine on credit eligibility.
What this calculator does and doesn't do
Does: Sums multi-segment custody days (inclusive of both endpoints), converts imposed sentences from days/months/years using 30/365-day convention, applies a flat-rate good-time discount estimate, and projects the release date by adding remaining days to the sentencing date.
Does not (yet): Handle federal or out-of-state holds, dead time, consecutive-sentence credit allocation, or multi-count cases with mixed credit eligibility. Good-time policies vary by county and many Michigan counties dropped good-time after the 2017 reforms — verify with the responsible jail before relying on the estimate.
This tool is computational only. It is not legal advice and does not substitute for an attorney's independent verification of credit against the actual jail or MDOC time computation. Built for our own trial prep at Sorin & Pyle, PC. Open to the bar.
